Some of My Interests:

I read. I read quite a bit. And I don't watch TV. Nope, not at all.

The single greatest category of my reading material is science fiction; I also read lots of fantasy, some non-fiction, as well as a bit of fiction from other genres.

One of my favourite authors is the late Robert Anson Heinlein, the author of books like "Stranger in a Strange Land", "The Puppet Masters", "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress", "Starship Troopers" and The Notebooks of Lazarus Long.

Over the past couple years, I've spent a fair bit of time on The Heinlein Forum. The Heinlein Forum is a free-form general discussion group consisting of fans of the works of Robert A. Heinlein.

I enjoy listening to various kinds of music, though mostly only do so while driving. Usually it's country or classical music.

In fall of 1997, I took up Judo. This martial art was the first recognized as an Olympic Sport. Unlike many other martial arts, Judo focuses on throws and holds, rather than punches and kicks. I've been neglecting my Judo studies of late, but do intend to resume them eventually.

A few years back, I took up what is arguably another martial art: shooting. So far I've just tried target shooting and trap shooting, but will probably try other varieties, including hunting, some time.

Interest in the shooting sports has also led me into area: gun laws. Laws in general, and gun laws particular are both amusingly and horrifyingly convoluted and inconsistent. I have a separate web site devoted so some of my gun law research.

Games can be a fun way to pass some time sometime. Among others, I enjoy playing:

Actually, for the past couple of years, I haven't had much opportunity to play chess or bridge I also play a variety of computer games.
