Wish List:
People sometimes want to get me a gift, but are at a loss for ideas.
This page is my remedy.
Potential Gifts:
- Unintended Consequences by John Ross
- An adapter & power supply to connect & access IDE (aka PATA or ATAPI)
hard drives via USB or FireWire. Should handle both standard-sized IDE
connectors and, either natively or via an adapter, the smaller laptop-sized
IDE drives. I don't have any particular model in mind, but I've seen
such for prices wildly ranging $9-$62.
- A decent, programmable electronic chess clock capable of handling
modern time controls with Bronstein delay, Fischer bonus time, multiple
time periods, etc.. E.g, the Excalibur chess clock, or
the Duel Timer
- The expansion
The Eastern Realm
for the game The Settlers: Rise of an Empire.
This game, though not amazing, was kind of fun to play, and I wouldn't mind
playing it's expansion. Note however, that the expansion was not released
separately in the US, only Europe, but the "Gold Edition" contains the expansion.
There I things that I just don't want to get as gifts. Things I have enough of to last a lifetime already,
or at least several years worth, or things I just don't want.
Anti-wishes:
- Shirts, including t-shirts
- Socks
- Underwear
- Aftershave/cologne
- Knives
- Expansion packs to Civilization 4. I've been playing the
Civilization series for a couple of decades now, and I think Civ3 is the best. Civ4 has a prettier
interface, and some of it's gameplay changes are nice improvements, but somehow the overall gameplay
experience I found to be lacking. Not sure what exactly the problem is, but I'm not interested in
delving deeper into the Civ4 experience via it's several expansion packs.
